If your projector has a focus motor in it, then this is the kit for you. If your projector does NOT have a focus motor, please order: Link & Rivet Set for Pre-1981 Kodak Carousel Slide Projector. The most common cause for the failure of the slide tray to advance or reverse is the breakage of this small Link (part 217769). It fits on the end of the solenoid actuator arm and is held in place by a Rivet (part 159943). The replacement of this part does not take a rocket scientist; however, a moderate mechanical aptitude skill is required. You will also find that the focus motor gear (part FM-GEAR) and the gear next to the focus motor gear (part 167348). It is best to remove the old gears BEFORE replacing the link then replacing them after the link has been installed. This Kit contains 1 Link, 1 Rivet, 1 Focus Motor Gear and 1 Gear Next to Focus Motor Gear.

Success

I work on cars and my house, but have never worked on anything like a slide projector. When I opened up the projector housing, I was intimated by all the wires and tiny components. Fortunately, the Repair Kit instructions were very clear on how to install the new parts. I barely touched the original plastic pieces in the projector and they broke into multiple pieces. They were so brittle. It took me 2 hrs to installed the repair kit and put the projector back together. The projector works like a charm. I viewed 1800 slides in the past couple days. No issues. Now I know how important it is to let the projector cool down after a slide show with only the fan running for several minutes. Thank you Micro-Tools.

Missing Instructions

Ordered 2 kits (one for a friend) but only received one set of instructions.

I haven’t tried the kit yet.

It’s all in the video

Putting the “new link” into the slot required a third hand holding the light “just right"

Good parts for a tricky repair.

This is a solution for an apparently common problem with old Carousel projectors.
The supplied components are of good quality, but the exceptional value is in the detailed instructions and video (on You Tube) of the tricky repair procedure.
