Kodak M70/M90 Single-Blade Shutter .187" – Part 198574 + $10 Core
Restore your Kodak M70 or M90 movie projector with this rebuilt single-blade shutter assembly for a .187" shutter-drive shaft.
The plastic gear on an original Kodak M-Series shutter can deteriorate or break with age, making shutter replacement necessary. Since new shutters are no longer available, rebuildable late-style shutter assemblies provide an important way to keep these vintage projectors operating. Your old rebuildable shutter is valuable as a core, so please return it whenever possible.

Measure the Shaft Before Ordering
Kodak M-Series shutters were produced for two shutter-drive shaft diameters: .185" and .187". Because the difference is only .002", it is important to measure the shaft rather than selecting a shutter based only on appearance.
Use a digital caliper to measure the diameter of the shutter-drive shaft. If your M70 or M90 measures .187", this 198574 shutter is the correct size.
If your M70 or M90 has a .185" shaft, you need part 178641 instead.
Single-Blade Shutter for the M70 & M90
The Kodak M70 and M90 use a single-blade shutter, distinguishing them from the M80, M85, and M95 models, which use double-blade shutters.
For M70 and M90 projectors:
-
198574 – Single blade, .187"
-
178641 – Single blade, .185"
For M80, M85, and M95 projectors:
-
198395 – Double blade, .187"
-
178642 – Double blade, .185"
Checking both the projector model and shaft diameter helps ensure you order the correct replacement.
Why These Shutters Need Replacement
The plastic shutter gear used in Kodak M-Series projectors can deteriorate as it ages. When the gear cracks, loses teeth, or otherwise fails, the shutter can no longer perform its job properly within the projector mechanism.
Because new replacement shutters are no longer available, rebuilding usable shutter assemblies is an important part of keeping these Kodak movie projectors operating.
Late-Style Shutter Cores
Kodak M-Series projectors can be found with early- and late-style shutter assemblies.
Only the late-style shutter can be rebuilt, so a late-style assembly is required for a rebuildable core. A rebuilt late-style shutter can also be used to replace an early-style shutter.
Please return your old late-style shutter whenever possible. Reusing these assemblies allows us to continue supplying rebuilt shutters as original parts become increasingly scarce.
$10 Core Charge
A $10 core charge applies if a rebuildable old shutter is not supplied with your order.
-
Send your rebuildable old shutter with your order and you will not be billed the core charge.
-
If no rebuildable shutter is received with the order, the $10 core charge will be billed.
-
Return your rebuildable shutter afterward and you will receive credit for the core.
There are no new shutters available, so returned cores are essential to maintaining the supply of replacement shutters for Kodak M-Series projector owners.
